“The most environmentally friendly energy is not the one generated by renewable energies but actually the one that was not consumed,” stated Axel Limberg, Chief Representative and Executive Director of the German Trade Office Taipei, during the official launch press conference held at the German Institute Taipei on March 18, 2022. He continued: “Besides the expansion of renewable energies, energy efficiency will be crucial for Taiwan to achieve its ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.”
Mr. Limberg emphasized: “We are very delighted that 16 participants from 15 different industry sectors have chosen to join our new training course in the first year, which is already a huge success. It shows that cost reduction through energy saving management has a huge potential in Taiwan and we are confident that more companies will join our training program to make their business more cost efficient and sustainable. We welcome all participants to the worldwide EUREM family as a platform for ongoing trainings and exchange.”
The EUREM Energy Efficiency Training extends over a period of six to eight months and covers all major technologies, precise calculations, long-term network, as well as comprehensive energy concepts for cost savings. It combines aspects of management, engineering, and renewables, which enables companies to save about 950 MWh and 550 tCO2e on average per year.
The EUREM Energy Efficiency Training was brought to Taiwan by the German Trade Office Taipei with the support of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the program was initially invented. From the Taiwanese side, partners include the Taiwan Tech University and the Corporate Synergy Development Centre. Guests of honor at the official launch press conference were Mr. Chun-Li Lee, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Energy (MOEA), and Dr. Jörg Polster, Director General of the German Institute Taipei, who both delivered welcome remarks.
Mr. Woody Yuan, Vice President of the Corporate Synergy Development Center, as well as two of the EUREM trainers—namely Mr. Philipp Moede, Business Development Manager at REMONDIS Taiwan Co., Ltd. and Dr. Jay Lin, Chief Consultant of PVGuider Co. Ltd.—provided their expertise on the new energy efficiency course.
The German Trade Office Taipei is convinced that the German EUREM Energy Efficiency Training will not only raise awareness for energy saving among the local business community, but also actively contribute to a more sustainable future of Taiwan’s corporate sector.
